I like how he approaches his job for most as a fan. I think that is critical for English Teachers. When I read student’s papers I try to approach it first as a fan of writing and reading. Has the student done something worthy of note (regardless of whether or not it was in the syllabus)? Is there something refreshing about their voice and prose?
